Rigorous academic focus - Thompson Valley High School (TVHS) is a Comprehensive Advanced Placement (AP) focus school. At TVHS, we believe that every student who has aspirations to go on to a postsecondary school should take pre- AP and AP coursework (we aim for 70% or higher of our student body in these classes). These courses are geared towards providing higher-level thinking and learning strategies that will help students be successful with more challenging work.

Preparing future citizens - We want our students and staff to look toward the future. It is important for all learners at TVHS to have a five- to eight-year vision of the world in which we live and work. The ability to think critically, communicate effectively and collaborate with others while using the latest technology is essential for all of our learning community members. Our learners will be able to adapt and change in a world that will require new thinking and new skills. It is critical that we prepare our learners for their future and not our past.

Exceptional teaching staff & student body - Our staff's compassionate concern for the success of our learners creates an environment that is based on respect for others and teamwork, which encourages our learners to help one another be successful. Our students come in as Eaglets and leave as strong and powerful Eagles.

Partnerships & collaborations - TVHS works collaboratively with our parents, the community and postsecondary education, including our local colleges and universities. Whether it is preparing the teachers of the future, having visiting scientists or working with admissions departments, we take an active role in providing a smooth transition for our learners to the next level. We have also established working relationships with local employers who will be hiring our students in the near future. Their input and guidance helps us stay current with the future needs of business, allowing us to better prepare our students and their future workers. We believe in working closely with our parents, the most important teachers each of our students encounter each day.

Strong extracurricular & cocurricular offerings - As we enter our second generation of TVHS Eagles, we build on the acknowledgement and success of each of our graduates. Our students have the opportunity to extend their learning through many of our extracurricular or cocurricular programs. By being an active member of our athletic teams, musical programs, drama/forensics or many other opportunities available at TVHS, our students develop additional skills that will greatly benefit them as they move through life.
