Name/History: The school is named after Claude E. Stansberry who served as assistant superintendent from 1963-1969 and as superintendent from 1969-1980.
Mission Statement: We are a child-centered school committed to success for every child providing learning opportunities designed to develop intellectual, social, emotional and physical abilities.
Academic focus - The Stansberry staff has found great success in using the Public Education and Business Coalition thinking strategies. These seven strategies are: Activating prior knowledge; asking clarifying questions; inferring; determining what is important; creating sensory images; synthesizing information; and monitoring meaning. They are integrated throughout our literacy and math classrooms as well as art, music, and PE.
High expectations - Our staff holds our students and ourselves to a high standard. Student reading and math level data is tracked and analyzed by teachers regularly in order to inform instruction and supplement learning. Our teachers are committed to developing the best instructional practices through in-house collaboration as well as nationally recognized instructional experts.
Positive environment - Due to Stansberry's relatively small but stable enrollment, the staff is able to develop strong, positive relationships with every student. We get to know a student's strengths and potential, and then build on their success.
Community involvement - We are very fortunate to have a strong, supportive parent community that contributes in many ways to the success of Stansberry. Whether through volunteer tutoring, technological purchases, or sponsoring our choir, Chess Club or Spanish Club, our community is an integral and valued part of our school.
Balanced mission - Stansberry staff takes great pride in the success we have had in educating the whole child. We are a small school making a big difference in the lives of our students.
