Lincoln Elementary
Principal: Jorge Garcia

Name/History: Lincoln Elementary is named after Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States.

Mission Statement: Our purpose is to work collaboratively with colleagues, students and parents to provide a safe, positive learning environment that promotes high standards of academic excellence, ensuring that all students achieve their maximum potential, becoming life-long critical thinkers and compassionate, responsible citizens.

Critical thinking - "Education is not about filling a pail, but lighting a fire." We believe that the quality of one's thinking determines the quality of life and, therefore, are dedicated to teaching children to analyze and evaluate their thinking in order to make fair-minded decisions. Our goal is to light the fire by teaching children how to think, not what to think.

Positive Behavior Support - We are engaged in a building-wide effort to create a school climate that maximizes academic achievement and behavioral competence by teaching and modeling the behaviors we expect to see. By giving priority to prevention over reaction, we seek to proactively address the behavioral needs of students. Our students receive "SPOTS" for exemplifying behaviors that are Safe, Positive, On task and for being Team players.

Technology - Our goals in technology use are to take students from learning to use technology to using technology to learn. Curriculum standards are integrated with student technology profiles to achieve maximum learning. We are increasingly able to incorporate the use of Promethean interactive whiteboards, document cameras and LCD projectors to open new worlds to our students in exciting, meaningful ways by dedicating portions of our budget for this purpose each year.

Community minded - Almost daily, we receive comments about the warm, welcoming atmosphere people feel when they come into our school. We view education as a partnership with our families and community and welcome the variety of active volunteers we have in our school. Our family nights are hugely successful and provide opportunities for us to be together as one big family!

Student centered/data driven - Our classrooms are student centered and data driven. We address individual needs based on data that is gathered on a continuous basis, enabling us to target instruction effectively. The question, "What is in the best interest of our students?" serves as a guide to all our decision making.
