Name/History: The school is named after the Town of Berthoud. Berthoud became part of the Thompson District in 1962. With new construction in 1999, the square footage is now 216,000. The community auditorium seats 500 people.

Mission Statement: We believe that our business is kids. The benefits of all students should be paramount in all of our decisions and behaviors. The purpose of school is to provide all students the opportunity to learn and become responsible, productive citizens/ that everyone should be learning and growing. Experimentation with new ideas is encouraged, supported, and rewarded. We have a strong tradition of high expectations of ourselves and of our students. Where possible, decisions are arrived at cooperatively and collaboratively by those people working at the building level, for schools improve because of their efforts. All students have the right to learn without interference from others.

Science focus - Berthoud High School (BHS) strives to produce scientifically and mathematically literate graduates who can step into leadership positions at the most competitive postsecondary programs in the country. BHS is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Focus high school and a Project Lead the Way high school.

Academics - Academically, BHS has produced several Boettcher scholars and finalists and many more AP scholars. More than 70 percent of graduates go to college and about another 4 percent attend vocational schools. Of those students entering postsecondary education, nearly 50 percent receive scholarships!

Athletics - Berthoud has a strong athletic program and in recent years has had many state finalist teams and individuals in volleyball, track, wrestling and football. The Spartans were the 2007-2008 State Football Champions. BHS also had a 2007-2008 State Wrestling Champion.

Activities - BHS is home of the renowned Bridge Between show choir, which had performances on Fox 31 and Channel 7 in 2008. Eight students made All State Choir in 2008.

Climate - BHS offers a comprehensive educational and athletic/activity program in a smaller school setting. This provides students with a more personalized school experience. "Our business is kids."
