Who or What is Quality Performance Department (QPD)?

The QPD will support the Thompson School District mission and vision of Empower to learn, Challenge to achieve, Inspire to excel by providing structure, clarity and support to Systems Alignment projects.

QPD has three department goals including:

  1. Raise student success
  2. Operate fiscally responsible
  3. Retain a high quality workforce

Maintain collaboration with Colorado Performance Excellence (non-profit organization to help organizations achieve goals and demonstrate results)

Provide TSD with a can-do, will-get-it-done, how-can-we-help, customer service attitude.

The Systems Alignment project started as a result of conversations that Dr. Cabrera, Thompson School District Superintendent, had with staff and community members during his 100 visits in 100 days.  After our organizational review was completed, 37 improvement opportunities were identified.  A focus team prioritized the opportunities and project teams were developed.  Because TSD and the community provided feedback during the organizational review, our staff owns these improvement opportunities.  They feel passionate about improving our work, and they are committed to action.

Right now we have nine project teams, two of which are being piloted this year.

  1. Streamline/Consolidate Initiatives
  2. Update and Apply Staffing Models
  3. Licensed Staff Hiring Process
  4. Differentiated Instruction Process
  5. Performance Management Process
  6. Professional Development Practices
  7. Updating District communications
The two pilots are:
    1. Elevate and Recognize Excellence
    2. Grant Management Process
