Learning Services
As a result of the central office reorganization in 2008-09, the Division of Learning Services was established for the continued improvement of teaching and learning in the Thompson School District. Learning Services provides instructional leadership to support academic excellence; to close academic gaps among students regardless of race, ethnicity, poverty, disability, gender, or language; and to create a safe, positive learning environment for all students, families, and staff.
Our seven departments are dedicated to ensuring an exceptional educational experience for each and every Thompson School District student and staff member.
The Department of Accountability and Accreditation oversees the district's comprehensive assessment system including the administration of the Colorado Student Assessment Program (CSAP), the accreditation process, and School Effectiveness Plans.
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction is responsible for supporting district educators in meeting the academic needs of all students by providing a rigorous, standards-based curricula in all content areas and by offering ongoing professional development for teachers and administrators to address the needs of their diverse learners, increase overall student achievement, and prepare students for success in the 21st Century.
The Thompson Integrated Early Childhood Program provides quality preschool experiences and specialized services to three and four year olds. Early Childhood Programs are located at eight different sites throughout the district and serve children who are eligible for Head Start, Colorado Preschool Program, or Special Education.
The Department of Elementary Education oversees the operation of all elementary schools, Title I, Reading Recovery, and supervises elementary school principals.
The Department of Secondary Education oversees the operation of middle and high schools, activities and athletics, Career and Technical Education, Postsecondary Options, and supervises all secondary school principals.
The Department of Special Education provides a continuum of support services to students ages 3-21 who are eligible under the Individual with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA). Services are provided in all district schools and preschool sites and are tailored to meet the unique learning needs of each student.
The Department of Student Support Services oversees the specialized educational programming needs students including gifted and talented, second language acquisition, school safety, truancy prevention, drug and alcohol education, and equity and diversity.
